It’s not the holidays without seeing your entire family

The holidays are the perfect time to be surrounded by family.

Eric B., a senior, visited all 23 of his family members throughout the break. He added that “they were the only people I saw over the break.”

Some students even flew to a different country to see them, like senior Samuel V., who spent half of his winter break in Mexico. “I saw like 15 of my family members In Mexico,” he said.

English teacher Mr. Benny Martinez said “My cousins are the reason why I go to family reunions. They’re fun, they’re like the life of the party.” Ninth grader Andrew M. said the person he looks forward to seeing is his younger cousin. “I’m very chill with him because he’s chill with me,” he said. “We like being with each other. We think of each other as brothers.”

Senior Julyssa G. said she enjoyed the holidays because she spent it with my grandma on her mom’s side of the family. “I feel comfortable and we are always together, and it’s a good feeling being with them.”

But, sometimes, being around family can present challenges.

Junior Xiomara A. said that “it’s a little controversial because sometimes my cousins or my uncles and aunts sometimes they, like, don’t get along with each other, so it’s kind of, like, weird.”
