CATS Seniors Are Going to College

As senior year begins to come to an end at CATS and college acceptances come around, the Class of 2022 will soon experience the college life they’ve been dreaming of.
So far, CATS students have received acceptance letters from Cal State Universities such as Cal State Northridge, Cal State Dominguez Hills, and Cal State Fullerton. Although, many have not received any feedback from University of California schools yet.
Helbert L., a senior at CATS, got accepted to his number one option which is Cal State Northridge and Cal State Bakersfield. “Uhh, I was excited,” he said when he received the good news from Cal State Northridge. “I plan on going with my buddies so we will dorm together.”
“I like to tell students that a college doesn’t define you, you define the school.”

Accepted to Cal State Bakersfield, Riverside, San Diego and Cal State Poly Pomona, Jayden C., Senior at CATS, “didn’t really have much of a reaction, it was like a dead face, like oh? I got in? okay.. cause it wasn’t like one of the dream colleges I got into” they said.
Jayden is currently waiting to hear from Occidental College which is their dream school. “That’s like one of my top 3 colleges I would like to go to,”.
Other students who were accepted to CSUN are Ivan D., Aremy O., Matthew L., Yonatan G., Adanesne B.l, and Joshua C.. At Cal State Bakersfield, Dayana G., Helbert L., Yvette F., and Jayden C. have been accepted as well.
“They learn about other perspectives, about other cultures, identities, and they just gain so much knowledge on how to navigate the world outside of highschool” said Ms. Brigit Escobar, ACE College and Career Administrator, who has supported Class of 2022 greatly and strongly believes that college is beneficial. “You gain independence because that’s the first time out of high school that you’re literally on your own and you’re figuring everything by yourself.”
Ms. Brigit is also a strong advocate to those attending community colleges. She believes it was a good decision and “even if you get rejected from a four-year [college] that’s okay, there’s so many other options out there!” she said. “I like to tell students that a college doesn’t define you, you define the school.”

A medida que el último año comienza a llegar a su fin en CATS y llegan las aceptaciones universitarias, la Clase de 2022 pronto experimentará la vida universitaria con la que ha estado soñando.

Jayden actualmente está esperando noticias de Occidental College, cuál es la escuela de sus sueños. “Esa es como una de mis 3 mejores universidades a las que me gustaría ir”.
Otros estudiantes que fueron aceptados en CSUN son Ivan D., Aremy O., Matthew L., Yonatan G., Adanesne Bl y Joshua C. En Cal State Bakersfield, Dayana G., Helbert L., Yvette F. y Jayden C. también han sido aceptados.
“Aprenden sobre otras perspectivas, sobre otras culturas, identidades, y adquieren mucho conocimiento sobre cómo navegar por el mundo fuera de la escuela secundaria”, dijo la Sra. Brigit Escobar, administradora universitaria y profesional de ACE, quien ha apoyado en gran medida a la Clase de 2022 y cree firmemente que la universidad es beneficiosa. “Obtienes independencia porque es la primera vez que sales de la escuela secundaria en la que estás literalmente solo y estás averiguando todo por ti mismo”.
La Sra. Brigit también es una firme defensora de quienes asisten a los colegios comunitarios. Ella cree que fue una buena decisión y “incluso si te rechazan de una [universidad] de cuatro años, está bien, ¡hay tantas otras opciones por ahí!”. ella dijo. “Me gusta decirles a los estudiantes que una universidad no te define a ti, tú defines la escuela”
