Meet Our New Teachers. Conoce A Nuestros Nuevos Maestros.

Hay muchos maestros nuevos en CATS, desde maestros de inglés a maestros de historia. 

Una maestra nueva, la Ms. Jocelyn López, dijo: “¡Hasta ahora, me encanta estar en CATS!” También dijo, “es un ambiente mucho mejor en comparación con otras escuelas en las que he estado. Mis compañeros de trabajo son increíbles y me apoyan mucho. Además, mis alumnos son increíbles”.

La Ms. López, que enseña historia, dijo que le encanta trabajar con estudiantes de secundaria. “Me encanta poder hablar con los niños sobre la vida y el anime. Los estudiantes de secundaria son más divertidos e interesantes para hablar porque están muy cerca de la edad adulta y tienen mucho en qué pensar sobre el impacto que les gustaría contribuir a sus comunidades después de la secundaria”, ella dijo.

Mr. Victor Domínguez, maestro de ingles y ELD, dijo que estaba emocionado al estar trabajando con estudiantes. “Me recuerda a mi cuando estaba estudiando y aprendiendo, y todos son buena onda”, él dijo.  

Mr. Dominguez explicó que es su primer año enseñando y que practico para ser maestro en el condado de Orange. 

Mr. Dominguez mencionó que lo más difícil es que los estudiantes tienen el hábito de siempre usar sus teléfonos. 

Otra maestra de historia, quien es Ms. Maria Salcido, dijo que también es su primer año como maestra. Ella está haciendo su maestría en University of California, Los Angeles.

Dijo, “A veces me siento de diferentes formas. La verdad depende de cual periodo depende del ambiente del día pero usualmente me siento con esperanza porque sé que los chicos de esta escuela tienen mucho potencial.”

Pero también dijo que hay veces que se siente frustrada. “Veo que los estudiantes en general no dan el empeño que ellos tienen.”

“Entre más confianza hay entre los estudiantes y yo el ambiente se mejora porque así yo puedo saber las características y las personalidades un poco más, entonces se personaliza más no solamente el estudio o enseñanza sino también la relación adentro y afuera de la clase”

“Entre más confianza hay entre los estudiantes y yo el ambiente se mejora porque así yo puedo saber las características y las personalidades un poco más, entonces se personaliza más no solamente el estudio o enseñanza sino también la relación adentro y afuera de la clase,” explico Ms. Salcido. “Alguna de las veces donde no me gusta el ambiente es la falta de respeto que veo con unos de los estudiantes, pero la mayoría de la parte me gusta el ambiente ya que  se haya establecido una confianza.”

Sin embargo, dijo que se siente con más esperanza este semestre comparado al primero.

There are many new teachers at CATS, from English teachers to history teachers.

One new teacher, Ms. Jocelyn Lopez, said, “So far I love being at CATS!” She also said, “It’s a much better environment compared to other schools I’ve been to. My co-workers are amazing and very supportive. Also, my students are amazing.”

Ms. Lopez, who teaches history, said that she loves working with high school students. “I love being able to talk to kids about life and anime. High school students are more fun and interesting to talk to because they are so close to adulthood and have a lot to think about the impact they would like to contribute to their communities after high school,” she said.

Mr. Victor Dominguez, English and ELD teacher, said that he was excited to be working with students. “It reminds me of when I was studying and learning, and everyone is cool,” he said.

Mr. Dominguez explained that this is his first year teaching and that he was practicing to be a teacher in Orange County.  He said that the hardest thing is that the students have the habit of always using their phones.

Another history teacher, Ms. Maria Salcido, said this is also her first year as a teacher. She is doing her master’s degree at the University of California, Los Angeles.

She said, “Sometimes I feel different ways. The truth depends on which period and it depends on the atmosphere of the day, but I usually feel hopeful because I know that the students in this school have a lot of potential.”

But she also said that there are times when she gets frustrated. “I see that students in general do not always put in the effort.”

“The more trust there is between the students and me, the better the environment is because that way I can get to know the characteristics and personalities a little more, so not only the instruction is more personalized but also the relationship inside and outside the class is more personalized,”

“Some of the times where I don’t like the environment is the lack of respect I see with some of the students, but most of the time I like the environment and that trust has been established.”

However, she said that she feels more hopeful this semester compared to the first.
