Spending time with family and friends this holiday season? Here are 5 Ways to Celebrate in the Year of Coronavirus.
By Cindy R.
As the year is coming to a close, many of us are excited that our favorite holidays are near, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is usually the time of year where people go and visit their families and gather their friends together to celebrate these festive times all together. The only problem that is getting in the way is the pandemic which doesn’t allow us to get together and have a good time! What if there was a way to still celebrate with our loved ones AND stay safe with social distancing? Here are 5 ways to celebrate these upcoming holidays while social distancing.
1. Having a virtual gathering with Zoom!
If there is one app that has been frequently used during this pandemic, it would be zoom. This app has been very useful to the education department and has helped businesses keep in touch. This would be a great way to get everyone together while being so far away! This method will prevent you from getting sick or infecting each other and it lets everyone see each other all at once. I believe this would be one of the best methods to go with to ensure that everyone’s safety is secured at their own comfort.
2. Plan outdoor activities for a more comfortable space!
Another method you can try is bringing the party outside! It is more effective to be social distancing outside since there is more space to spread out. I would say this way is for smaller gatherings to maintain an easier distance from each other but this allows people to still come over to celebrate and keep their distance. Make sure that there is enough space to be apart from each other and still take the safety regulations for COVID-19 into account to have a successful event.
3. Binge-watch shows or movies virtually with Netflix!
Netflix just came out with a way to watch your favorite shows and movies while connecting with other people at the same time! This Teleparty makes a great way for people to gather together to watch all kinds of things all day long and be in the comfort of their own homes. This allows everyone to watch the same thing and have access to a chat box to talk all at the same time! This is a great way to spend the holidays with one another with little effort and maximum fun!
4. Send some Holiday gifts!
Making or buying a holiday gift always brings in the spirit of celebration to life! Maybe you don’t end up getting together because of the pandemic, but that doesn’t mean you can’t send in a gift. This method would allow you to visit everyone for a small period of time and be able to celebrate the holidays with a nice gift! Make sure that when you are visiting, you have your mask on at all times and maintain some distance between you and the person you are visiting for safety.
5. Send out some funny holiday cards!
There are so many people who feel awful not being able to visit their family and friends for the holidays and maybe you can’t visit them at all for being too far away. I think this final method would be a great way to show that you wish everyone the best during these difficult times. Making a funny and creative holiday card would break the tension of the pandemic and have everyone smiling! Making these cards and having the time to send them out would have a greater impact on the holiday spirit than just texting it. Therefore, I think this would help everyone relieve some stress and have a good holiday.
