Goodbye, Mr. Jacobson
By Jimena R.
Every journey comes to an end, and for Mr. Cody Jacobson this is true with his time as a math teacher at CATS.
Throughout his many years here, he has helped a lot of students with their assignments and has shared his cool soundtrack music with them, too.
Mr. Jacobson left mid-semester on parental leave due to his wife giving birth to a beautiful baby boy and he returned mid-April before officially leaving on May 12.
Following his short leave, Mr. Jacobson shared that “My daily routine took a second to get back into, but I’ve had it down for the last few years.” But then he announced he was leaving.
He will continue his journey as a teacher at a school closer to his home to spend more time with his newborn son.
“It will affect me since I’m gonna miss working here,” he said. “I spent my first 7 years of teaching here and I ever only taught here.”
He said leaving to a different school will be difficult.
“It’s gonna be a big change. I’m going to miss the students, I’m gonna miss the coworkers, I’m gonna miss everything about it.”
But there’s at least one thing that he won’t be sad about.
“The only thing I won’t miss is the commute.”
Principal Gosselin said the news of Mr. Jacobson leaving made him feel “not so great” but he shared that Mr. Jacobson is “a great teacher.”
“We had him in the plan here for the next year and we understand the reason why he’s leaving, but it will be creating a gap,” he said. “In addition many students will miss Mr. Jacobson, who was a great math teacher.”
