Lady’s softball team eyes a third time championship run

For the past two years Rivera’s Softball girls have made it all the way to championships. Will they do this again for another year? is the real question everyone is having this year. As they lost many people who contributed greatly to the team, they have also gained people. Early into the season they lost to their rival Fremont but came back from a 8 point lead and ended up losing by one. This gave the lady huskies motivation and came strong to several games. Their pre-season is over and their season has just begun.

They begin their season with a record 3-1 with more games to come, they hope to take the wins to be placed well in standings. The team is full of amazing players, such as junior Brianna O., the pitcher for the team for the past two years, is still playing strong and contributing greatly with having 12 strikeouts so far this season. She ties in with the national average. Senior Ayanna R. looks to continue her outstanding hitting average to contribute to the team and hopes to lead in RBIs like the previous year. There’s many more outstanding players as well. The Huskies look like they might just go far into the playoffs again and take the championship this year.

“I am confident that we will make it again. After all we went through it twice and we know what to expect,” said Brianna, “We just have to work as a team and individually so we can give it our all on and off the team,” Brianna added. All the girls in the team have the same mentality to play hard for what they want and they want the championship. Like anyone else they’re willing to try and do anything to improve as players and a team to go far and take it this year. Even though everyone has high expectations for the team it’s too early to tell anything that will happen in the playoffs but it is expected for them to go into playoffs and take their league.

A team this confident with much potential seeks to see playoffs and play the championship game once again. With plenty of time and work needed to put in the lady Huskies can be even stronger than what they are at this point. The question still stands whether or not the girls will rise to the expectations and give the school another opportunity to see them playing for a championship.
