Las Dificultades de los Estudiantes Migrantes y Aprendices de Inglés

Los estudiantes aprendices de inglés de CATS comentan sus experiencias difíciles.
Un estudiante de CATS, quien deseo ser anónimo, dijo “mi experiencias en el aprendizaje en inglés no son las mejores pero la razón es que algunos de los estudiantes me hacían bullying por no saber el idioma.”
También comentó que algunos maestros no le daban el suficiente apoyo para aprender el idioma. “Pero gracias a eso me enfoque en el inglés y un consejo que doy es que vean cosas en inglés, que hablen sin pena en inglés, intenten hacer todo en inglés”.
Ms. Audrey Greene, la coordinadora de Targeted Special Populations (TSP), o ciertos grupos de estudiantes como aprendices de inglés y otros, dijo “en la escuela, por alguna razón, los estudiantes se separan. Explicó que “a veces los estudiantes que nacieron aquí, hispanos, versus los estudiantes que vienen aquí como estudiantes mayores, no se mezclan. No sé por qué, pero no se mezclan. Carlos G., estudiante del décimo grado, dijo que fue difícil llegar al país. “Me gustaría que fuera más fácil para que las personas que buscan una mejor vida tengan una oportunidad más fácil. Mi viaje fue de mucho tiempo. Tardé dos meses en venir a este país.”
Ms. Xiomara Sanchez, maestra de ciencias, comentó sobre sus experiencias cuando estuvo en su aprendizaje de inglés.
Ella dijo que le tomó entre 3 y 4 años aprender inglés cuando ella también estaba en la preparatoria en los Estados Unidos. “Yo tuve muchos compañeros que tenían dificultades para hablar en inglés pero eso no los detuvo. Ahora que ya sé perfectamente el ingles soy maestra de ciencias.”
Su consejo para los estudiantes nuevos aprendiendo inglés es “que nunca se rindan, y que no te importe si ellos se ríen de ti.”
Ms. Greene dijo que hay al menos 145 estudiantes aprendiendo inglés en CATS, ya sea nuevos aprendices o aprendices que llevan más años aprendiendo el idioma del inglés.
