When it comes to fashion, students and teachers at CATS have a very different taste in clothes.

For Mr. Daniel Ferguson, broadcast journalism teacher and creator of the LA Legacy Project, fashion is “an extension, a presentation of my personality.”

He said he would describe his style as simple and elegant.

“The most important thing to me when it comes to fashion is longevity,” he said. “The styles, the looks I choose could last a long period of time, not just for the moment.”

Mr. Ferguson also shared that his grandfather and the “rat pack,” a group of Vegas performers that included Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior, and Dean Martin, inspire his fashion choices.

On the other hand, 11th grader Daniel A. said the most important thing to him in fashion is “absolutely comfortability. If it’s uncomfortable, you will never see me wearing it.”

Daniel also shared that his sisters and some of the movies he’s watched inspire his fashion choices.

He spoke about how his mood determines his outfits. “When I’m low in energy, I’d say I dress the ugly way,” he said, “but like when I have a lot of energy, it looks pretty decent.”

Meanwhile Xochilt G. an 11th grader, said she would describe her style as “Y2K,” a style that comes from the 1990’s and early 2000’s, and that celebrity heiress Paris Hilton and influencer Sarahchi0 on TikTok inspire her outfits.

What is important to her is “making sure my outfits don’t look very messy or making sure the colors match up.”

“I feel fashion helps me express who I want to be,” she said. “When I wear really bright colors I feel confident.”
