By Alexander P. and Pedro Marquez
Imagine turning on your tv and the tv show “In Living Colors” is playing, and you see a scene where people are walking on the clouds. You see a man running towards two women, he pushes one and says “out of my way b***h”. Then, he swoops the second girl off her feet and swings her dramatically. Little did you know we had an actor in our CATS family and that man is teaching you HISTORY!
Thomas Carrano was born and raised in the late 1960s. Mr.Carrano was born in Brooklyn but spent most of his childhood in Long Island, New York. When he was 10 he was slightly passed the weight limit for the football team. He had one month to lose 20 pounds. When asked about how he felt about this he said “If I put my mind to it I know I could achieve it” and he sure did achieve his goal and joining the football team.
Four years later he would go into high school and get accepted into the football team. Throughout his pre-adulthood, he would be one of the starters for the football team and baseball team. He had the guts to ask out his crush but later on experienced his worst heartbreak in high school two days after. Carrano was associated with different types of groups in high school. He would mostly hang out with the nerds and became one himself.
When asked about jobs he had before becoming a teacher he said: “YOU NAME IT”. He had many jobs including, Landscaping, at a gas station, and even an operator for a hotel. One of his dream jobs was becoming an actor as well as becoming the next Tom Cruise.
After high school, he went to a community college, took a couple math classes and acting classes. At age 35, Carrano went back to school to attend Pasadena City College to go back into studying once again. He mentioned that the college he attended built character and helped him with problem-solving.
Carrano has a pet cat that he named Cleopatra. He was teaching 6th-grade history and it had to do with Egypt and named his cat after her. We’ve seen that Carrano has dance moves but where did he learn how to dance like that. Carrano mentioned that he learned to dance in the 70s to late 80s in Manhattan clubs. Next time you see Carrano make sure to tell him ”Way to go Carrano!”
