Sports Update: Soccer at Diego Rivera
By Axel G.
What did the soccer team think about this year’s season and senior night?
Josue C., a JV soccer player and senior at Green Design, said, “My senior night was good.”
He shared that “I felt supported by my peers and how they made a nice poster for me. I did see a lot of people watching us play and it felt good.”
Even though the team lost, he felt as if there was nothing they could have done differently.
Josue F., a varsity soccer player and senior at Green Design shared that he felt excited and prepared for senior night because if they would’ve won that game they would have won the league.
He said that he felt very supported because there was a large amount of people there to support them.
“We ended up losing the game,” he said. “But I think that what we could have done better is warm up and not play around too much and communicate more and pass the ball around.”
Alexis Y., a varsity soccer player and junior, said that he was very excited although he was suspended for a fight which, he said he wasn’t involved in that occurred the day before senior soccer night.
According to him, it all started when the opposite team started “playing dirty” and one of the Diego Rivera players pushed one of the opponents and suddenly the field became a crowd.
The school’s sport administrator saw a video of the minor clash that had happened between both teams and decided to suspend the people that had been involved in it.
After being asked how he felt about being in the soccer team next year, he said he felt very excited because it would be his last year and he hopes to win every game his senior year.
Alexis said, “Our soccer season is going very good as we were 4th place in Division 2 and we were ranked 3rd for D2.”
