For the first three weeks of school the schedule has been changing due to the amount of “no school” days, including the day off due to the hurricane, and by also having a different schedule for Tuesdays, a change that was voted on by teachers last year.

How have these changes to the schedule impacted CATS students and staff?

According to senior Perla V., it is not that different from last year. The only thing she doesn’t agree with is the new Tuesday schedule.

She said, “I really enjoyed the Tuesday schedule last year.” She was used to the schedule and it was easier to get through the day, she said.

She explained that it was confusing and had an uneven amount of classes every week.

“I think it became more complicated, but it’s not that bad. It’s almost the same thing,” she said.

Senior Mia M., who is also student council president, agreed, saying, “It is just weird to get adapted to Tuesday.”

She mentioned liking it before and not knowing why it was changed.  Mia also gave her opinion on the recent changes in the schedules by saying it’s weird how some of the classes get more time from others.

She said, last week we got odd [days] most of the week and now we had to start off with odd on Tuesday, which should have been an even day.”

On the other hand, Mr. Mandujano, testing coordinator, suggested the new schedule is better because before, “as a teacher you [would] only see certain students for two days.” Now teachers can see students at least 3 days a week.

The schedule will have an impact on students and teachers’ lives by keeping them on track.

Perla V. said,”I think more work will be done in certain classes since we have Tuesday now, we have it, like, designed to have an odd or even schedule.”

Mia M. shared similar thoughts saying, “I guess it’ll impact it just by how much work you can get done in each class.”

However, Perla wishes the class schedule would have changed in another way: the number of periods.

“I think seven would’ve been good  or maybe even six, sometimes you get put into electives that we don’t really need,” she shared.

Mr. Mandujano said if he had the power to change the schedule, he would, because, he explained that “a few students brought up the fact that there are certain weeks where they see a teacher and it feels like they haven’t seen them for two or three weeks.”

And you? What would you have changed from this new schedule?
