Letters to the editor: How COVID has impacted CATS

The following are letters to the editor written by CATS students. They have been lightly edited for clarity.

To the editor,

Luis N., Eric M., and Cristian V. published an article titled How COVID has impacted CATS, which I read. This story piqued my interest since I wanted to understand how COVID affected CATS on a deeper level. I suggest that we provide additional information about what teachers believe about COVID restrictions in order to improve our community. It’s also crucial to consider how the COVID scenario in CATS affects teachers and staff.

I believe that few people are aware of what is going on in the world of COVID. I appreciate you writing this post since it may help some students realize how cautious they should be when it comes to COVID. This article can help students understand the importance of COVID and how it affects our community when people do not follow the rules. For the woman working in the office, they often feel pressured and stressed for answering the same question repeatedly, mostly for “…many parents who call the school asking when their children can return to school and how to do it or questions they have about attendance,” Ms. Silvia said. This section of the article demonstrates how the staff, not just the students, are dealing with the COVID scenario.

Then COVID began to have a significant impact on absenteeism and was discovered to be positive. Despite the fact that “many who are missing because they are testing positive and have to go into quarantine,” Mr. Roque stated. COVID rates have risen since we returned from a winter vacation in January, so they can be used in everyday life. Since students returned to school, at least,”…120 students have tested positive for COVID-19…” This incident demonstrates how COVID had a significant impact on CATS.

I suggest that students and teachers should take the COVID protocols more seriously and that pupils who refuse to put their masks on should be sent to the principal’s office. I know that the best way for pupils to obey COVID requirements is to be rigorous. Some teachers should be a little stricter when it comes to COVID rules so that there are fewer cases. People should be aware of how COVID has influenced CATS since they attend school and should be aware of what is going on around them.

Sincerely,

Evelyn G.

To the editor,

I read the article titled How COVID has impacted CATS by Luis N,Eric M,and Cristian V. This article caught my attention because it seemed to be interesting and I wanted to know how other students were taking COVID and why lots of students were absent.

I feel that some people’s grades and their stability to learn have gone down because of Covid even though it’s probably some students’ first year or second year at the school from being back from online learning and probably from us getting used to online learning. Most students are probably more comfortable learning online and some in person, but I think COVID really affected grades and studying .

I think teachers should try to give more time or take notes through a computer and some on paper to still regulate from taking notes through a computer and taking notes in a notebook so they can get used to taking notes in a different way than normal, and so it’s easier to take long notes on a computer than on paper. And I think that students should try to make the best of what’s happening even though we’re in a pandemic still.

Sincerely,

Rudy C.
