Review: “The Last Of Us”
HBO Max

“The Last Of Us” is a TV series on HBO Max based on the dystopian video game of the same name starring Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, and many more actors. This show takes place a few years after 2003 when there’s an outbreak of a fungus that turns people into these zombie-like creatures called the “clickers” or the “infected.” The main protagonists are tasked with a very important mission that could change everything.

What I liked about the show was that there were a lot of similarities between the show and the game. One similarity is in this scene where Joel (Pedro Pascal) had to evacuate his house with his daughter, Sarah (Nico Parker), and his brother Tommy (Gabriel Luna). When they were driving out of Texas, some of the “clickers” were attacking a town and they ended up crashing their car in the middle of town. They end up having to get away from someone who was infected while Joel had to carry Sarah because she broke her ankle.

Another thing that I liked about this show was that there was a lot of chemistry between the characters, romantically or platonically. The chemistry that I loved was for the characters Bill (Nick Offerman) and Frank (Murray Bartlett). When they first met, Frank fell into one of Bill’s traps, which he made so both raiders and clickers wouldn’t dare attack his house. Eventually Bill let him escape, but after convincing him to stay for a little while for a nice meal, they ended up falling in love. What stands out is Bill’s growth from the beginning to the end of the episode. He used to hate the world and didn’t care about people dying, but once he met Bill, he felt that there was one person worth saving. It was a very emotional episode.

This show was interesting to watch, especially for fans who love the video game. This show is full of excitement, entertainment, jump scares, and somewhat emotional sequences. “The Last Of Us” is probably one of the few TV shows that has the accuracy of the actual video game, and that’s what I really love about it.
